Living a life in fear of taking a step and making a mistake, is, in itself, a sin. God wants us to live a life of freedom and a life free from the fear of making a mistake. When we don’t take action because we’re too afraid of ‘not being in God’s will,’ (to over-spiritualize it), or for making the ‘wrong’ step – we exhibit out mistrust in God’s omnipotence. In not taking action for fear of making a mistake, we elevate our mistakes as bigger than what God can fix and work for His good.
We’re saying that we don’t trust that God is big enough to make up the difference for where we lack. We believe that God can’t fill in our mistakes. God is not offended nor intimidated by our lack – by our weaknesses. God wants us to live freely so that we can live fulfilling lives in relationship with Him, not scared that if we take a step we will mess up our relationship with Him. He wants us to take chances and have faith in Him that He is big enough to catch us.
God will make up the difference where you lack.
Where you lack, God is more than happy to step in.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NASB) – “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
When I can humble myself to acknowledge that I am weak, then Christ is able to make up the difference and make me strong. “I will boast of my weakness, so that Christ may dwell in me.” In my weakness, if I acknowledge it, boast in it even, it allows God’s grace to work to its fullness and make up for my lack – making me stronger than I ever could be on my own.
God does not want you to not take steps because you are in fear of making mistakes. God is the one directing your steps anyway! Proverbs 16:9 – A person’s heart plans his way, but the LORD determines his steps. We can trust, and take refuge in the fact, that God will adjust us as we go.
I’m praying you will see your weaknesses over the next few days and that we will both be able to revel in our weaknesses, so that we can allow Christ to make up the difference for where we lack, making us strong in Him.
Until next time,
